With the 2022 Forest City Film Festival fast approaching, FCFF founder and executive director, Dorothy Downs is looking forward to this year’s show: “We are so excited to ramp up for this year at FCFF. It feels like we are moving out of a very dark time with COVID and into the light. The creativity of the past two years is going to shine very brightly at the film festival this year. This is such a great opportunity for filmmakers to share their work with our audience. We invite all films with a connection to Southwestern Ontario to participate.”
We are now accepting submissions to the Forest City Film Festival, the Forest City Youth Film Festival, and the brand new Ontario Youth Film Festival.
Submissions for this year’s FCFF will be accepted between March 15th and July 15th, 2022. We are looking for films that have at least one member of the key artistic team that has spent a significant time in Southwest Ontario, or films that were filmed in or are about the region. The key artistic team may include director, writer, producer, DoP, sound design and actors. Submissions should fall into one of seven categories: feature narratives, short narratives, feature documentaries, short documentaries, music video, animation, and screenplay. Each application submitted before July 15th, 2022, will be considered for a spot in the festival by a panel of experts from across the Canadian film industry.

We are excited to get aspiring young filmmakers involved in the festival with the 4th annual Forest City Youth Film Festival. The youth festival is available for applicants registered to a high school in Southwestern Ontario. The categories in competition are animation, short narrative, short documentary, pitching, experimental film, music video, and promotional video. Submissions for the FCYFF will be accepted until June 30th.
In 2022, we are also expanding our opportunities for young filmmakers to participate in a province-wide competition, the Ontario Youth Film Festival.
