Perfecting Your Pitch

Perfecting Your Pitch 2560 1706 Forest City Film Festival

Written by Taylor Westbury

Back by popular demand, the OSCC’s massive Pitchfest is here for a second year! Project Pitch is a forum where attendees and filmmakers alike will be brought into a world of creativity and discovery by following the competition which determines who’s feature film has the chops to go all the way into production.

To prepare filmmakers entering the competition previous winners of Project Pitch 2021, Olga and Geordie Sabbagh, have included some helpful tips and thoughts regarding their preparation that led them to their success…

“Practice, practice, practice!  We really focused on what were the key things we needed to convey in those four minutes.  We asked a lot of questions to help us ensure we touched upon what the judges were looking for.  We visited London beforehand and made sure that London could be part of the fabric of our story.“

Once winning, the new reigning Pitchfest filmmakers of 2022 will have access to an abundance of resources to contribute to a successful feature film right here in the heart of London, ON. Currently, both Geordie and Olga are in the midst of making their winning 1970’s crime feature, Audit, come to life here within the city.

“London is an amazing city for the breadth and depth of locations.  It’s got incredible architecture from multiple periods.  It reminded me of all those great 70s films,  it’s still got a bit of grit, which I love.  As we’ve started working with people, everyone has been so supportive and open to helping make Audit a reality. They bring not only tremendous creativity to the film, but a lot of enthusiasm and energy that I think you’ll see in between the frames!”

Project Pitch is the largest pitch fest in Canada with over $60,000 in prizes that span across every need when creating a feature film. From 30,000$ cash grant awarded by Film London to $2,500 Sound supervision and post-production playback sessions by OIART; this competition will award its winners with as much support possible to make their visions come to life.
