Twelve of the Best Films in the World!

Twelve of the Best Films in the World! 1280 720 Forest City Film Festival

Did you know the Forest City Film Festival is not just about showcasing regionally connected talent?

To cultivate the cinema culture in our region, we’re introducing audiences and filmmakers to some of the greatest films being made worldwide. This is why we are bringing a selection of international films to the festival this year.

Pot Au Feu – France

We’ve curated films from seven countries across four continents, from festivals including Sundance, Berlinale, Cannes, Venice, Fantasia, imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

We selected these films to connect with our region’s various diasporas and all film lovers.

Our lineup includes comedy that will make you belly laugh, dramas that will make you cry, romance that will make your heart soar, thrillers that will have you biting your fingernails, and documentaries that will expand your view of the world.

This year, our selection of films includes the Sundance Audience Award winner “The Persian Version,” a wonderful crowd-pleasing comedy about an Iranian-American family in New York City.

The Persian Version – Iran

We are co-presenting “Orlando, My Political Biography,” a revolutionary queer essay film from France which premiered at Berlinale. It’s part of our two Deep Dive experiences where, after the films, you’ll meet speakers who explore the film’s themes. These thought-provoking conversations will make a lasting impression on those lucky enough to get a ticket.

Our Cannes titles include prize winners “How to Have Sex” from the United Kingdom, “Monster” from Japan, “About Dry Grasses” from Turkey, “Four Daughters” from Tunisia, and “The Pot-Au-Feu” from France.

Four Daughters – Tunisia

Canadian films include “Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person,” “Red Rooms,” and “Café Daughter.”

And that’s not all!

A handful of new films will be announced in the coming weeks, so follow our social media for upcoming film announcements.

With a lineup like this, the “Best of the World Fests” truly has something for every type of movie lover.
