TV Legend David Shore to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 2025 Forest City Film Festival

We’re thrilled to share some very special news: this year’s Forest City Film Festival Lifetime Achievement in Entertainment Award will be presented to none other than David Shore, the Emmy-winning creator behind House and The Good Doctor.

Born and raised in London, Shore began his studies at University of Western Ontario for his undergraduate, and completed a law degree at University of Toronto. He then decided to move to Los Angeles and break into a successful career in television, impacting and inspiring international audiences and filmmakers to this day.

If you’ve ever been hooked by the brilliant mind of Dr. Gregory House or moved by the heart of The Good Doctor, then you’ve already felt the powerful storytelling of David Shore. With a sharp pen and a profound understanding of character, Shore has reshaped the television landscape—creating emotionally resonant, globally celebrated dramas that have left a lasting mark on audiences around the world.

But what makes this moment even more meaningful is that Shore is one of our own. Born and raised in London, his journey from Southwestern Ontario to Hollywood is a true inspiration – not only for aspiring filmmakers and writers, but for anyone with a story to tell.

“We are proud to honor David Shore, a visionary storyteller who has reshaped modern television,” says festival founder and Executive Director, Dorothy Downs: “He has redefined the medical drama with humanity, complexity, and razor-sharp wit. His remarkable career continues to inspire writers, filmmakers, and audiences worldwide. As a Londoner with a truly global impact, David embodies the excellence and innovation we are thrilled to celebrate.”

The Lifetime Achievement in Entertainment Award at FCFF honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the world of film and television and who have deep ties to Southwestern Ontario. With his London roots and global impact, Shore is a perfect recipient for this milestone year.
